Jennifer Helland

Jennifer Helland is a yogi, modern dancer and holistic nutritionist.

 

She completed her yoga teacher training at Downward Dog in 2004 and has been on faculty there ever since. Jennifer teaches from the heart. She seeks to share her love of yoga while creating a safe environment for self-discovery. She continues to practice under the guidance of Ron and Diane and feels like Downward Dog is her second home.

Natasha Wright


In an attempt to deepen an understanding of herself, spirituality and her family, Natasha Wright became immediately drawn to the benefits of a regular yoga practice in 2001.  It was soon after, she made a decision to leave her job in the fashion industry behind and begin teaching when she completed the DWD TT program in 2003/04.

Jane Loney


Jane Loney received her yoga teacher training certification in 1999 from Toronto's Downward Dog Yoga Centre, and has been instructing ever since.

Currently she teaches a variety of styles including Ashtanga, Restorative and gentle Hatha yoga classes at studios throughout Toronto.

Katherine de Boda enjoys sharing the discoveries of her practice with a calm strength.

Katherine was introduced to yoga and meditation as a child by her grandmother. She began a consistent practice over 10 years ago with Ron Reid as her primary teacher at Downward Dog, where she also trained to teach.

Sarah Nixon


Sarah Nixon is a yoga teacher, urban flower farmer and new mother.

Growing up on Vancouver Island, Sarah began yoga in 1995 while in university studying the fine arts. She has since lived and practiced in Montreal, Vancouver and Gabriola Island studying both Iyengar and Ashtanga Vinyasa styles.

Christine Felstead


Christine Felstead has over 20 years experience as a marathon and other common road race distances.  Her yoga journey started in 1997 with a casual once a week yoga class to complement her fitness.  Áttending Downward Dog’s first yoga retreat in Hawaii changed her definition of ‘fit’ and led to replacing her running shoes with a yoga mat.

Tamara Berger

Tamara Berger has been practicing Yoga for 13 years and teaching for 10. She enjoys instructing Mysore-style classes to observe people's unique practice, listen and give deep adjustments. She has studied pre-natal yoga and enjoys working with pregnant yoga practitioners as well. She has studied Ashtanga Yoga with Ron Reid for 11 years and continues to learn from him.
 
Andrea Peloso


At the age of fifteen, Andrea Peloso tried her first yoga class.  She was immediately drawn to the practice.  This joyful and inquisitive beginning grew to an appreciation for the inner peace, happiness, and calm that a mindful yoga practice can bring through all of life’s challenges.

Sarah Keeley


Sarah Keeley's fascination with the equipoise between "sukha" (softness/ease) and "sthira" (stability/effort) drive her to explore the physical and emotional landscape through asana practice.

In 2006 Sarah completed the Downward Dog Teacher Training program, and in 2007 travelled to Mysore, India, to study at the K Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Institute.

Geoff Wiebe


The only child of a professor (of the philosophy of science and religion) and a palliative care nurse, growing up on campus in England was rich with opportunity, and Geoffrey Wiebe was introduced to yoga at 5 by an upstairs neighbor- though interest soon faded in favour of sport. The next invitation came over 20 years later with the ashtanga practice, taught by Diane Bruni and Ron Reid, with whom he completed teacher training in 2001.

Kathleen Henry


Kathleen Henry began to practice yoga after graduating from law school. With her law degree in hand she began studying yoga with Michael Siddall (Ashtanga, Hatha and Anusara Inspired), and later with Ron Reid and Diane Bruni, (Ashtanga). In addition, she has studied with teachers such as Chuck Miller & Maty Ezraty, Matthew Sweeney, Rodney Yee, Ann Greene & Todd Norian, and Shiva Rea.

Cecily Milne


Since 2003, Cecily Milne has been a student of the Ashtanga vinyasa yoga tradition, refining a dedicated practice with guidance from senior teachers.  Her introduction to yoga came from weekly classes at the Halifax YMCA.  Immediately drawn to the physical practice, she later uncovered the deeper benefits - both spiritually and emotionally.

Grant Hutchinson


Grant Hutchinson invites students to explore stillness, whether in the energetic practice of Ashtanga Yoga or in the receptive quiet of Yin Yoga.  His teaching fosters a supportive and non-competitive environment, encouraging surrender to the present moment. Grant began practicing yoga in 2001 and took his first teacher training in Thailand after spending several months in India and South-East Asia in 2004.

Livia Berius

Livia Berius is a certified yoga teacher through Downward Dog Yoga Centre, and is a certified Yoga Ed instructor for teaching yoga to children. She teaches kids yoga classes at Downward Dog, along with a number of studios and schools across Toronto. Livia is a dynamic and engaging teacher who brings a creative background to her teaching, and is a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada.
 
Tessa Jones


Tessa Jones - musician, dancer, yogi, and puppet maker - was drawn into the world of yoga in 2001, fascinated with a practice that was so incredibly supportive both physically and psychologically. She continues to be inspired by the way this practice brings people together and promotes truthful living. She completed her teacher training with the Downward Dog and studied with Richard Freeman in a month-long Teacher Intensive.

Amica Hilton


Amica Hilton's first taste of yoga came when, as a child, she accompanied her mom to yoga classes, where she developed a taste for movement, relaxation and focused practice. Amica studied dance--both contemporary and creative movement--for over 12 years and moved to Toronto in 2003 to purse a professional career in the arts. It was her passion for movement that led her to begin practicing yoga in her late teens, initially as a means of complementing her dance training.

Eroca Nicols


After earning an Honors BFA in Film/Video/Performance and Sculpture from California College of the Arts (San Francisco and Oakland, CA), Eroca Nicols made her transition into dance by accepting a scholarship from Ballet Creole's Professional Training Program in Toronto. Following her time at Ballet Creole, she trained at The School of Toronto Dance Theatre. Eroca's choreographic works have been presented at Toronto's Nuit Blanche and at The Cube, in Bristol, UK.

Amy Baillargeon

Amy Baillargeon (also known as Ambika) was introduced to yoga in September 2005 at the Sivananda ashram in Quebec. Immediately drawn to a lifestyle dedicated to yogic principles and traditions, she moved into the ashram and commenced study of the Bhagavad Gita, Sanskrit, chanting and pranayama.
