Since 1999, Downward Dog has been offering comprehensive training and development programs for aspiring and existing teachers. With ten years of experience behind us, the evolution of our Teacher Training program reflects an emphasis on quality, detail and technique. Our integrated and holistic 500-hour program is designed to foster a thorough learning environment where those who wish to teach are given the opportunity to continue their training and discover the in-depth knowledge and experience needed to stand apart from the growing body of yoga instructors in Canada and North America.

Basic Certification provides the foundation for teaching yoga. In-class sessions are held at our Downtown studio in the vibrant Queen Street West neighbourhood or students can opt for our annual Intensive in Puerto Escondido, Mexico. Space is limited in each class to provide an incomparable, intimate setting in which to learn, practice and explore the art of yoga instruction. Applications to the Program are carefully reviewed in accordance with the Teacher Training prerequisites to guarantee the best possible experience for all enrolled participants.

Downward Dog is proud to be joining forces this coming winter with Sun Yoga in Oakville, Ontario.  Take advantage of the opportunity to study with Ron Reid, Diane Bruni, Marla Joy and David Bruni away from the hustle and bustle of downtown.   This 200-hour Basic Certification program runs from January through March 2011, with classes taking place Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

Downward Dog is pleased to announce that our Teacher Training Basic Certification program will once again be transported to the white sand beaches of Puerto Escondido, Mexico in March 2011.  Last year’s experience proved to be truly exceptional and one-of-a-kind; what we have in store for 2011 will continue to raise the bar, bringing world-class yoga instruction to a setting beyond compare.

Once you have completed the Basic Certification with Downward Dog, you will be eligible for our Professional Program, an additional 300-hours of in-depth training which, upon completion, would qualify you for a 500-hour Teaching Certificate. This portion of Teacher Training is intended for those who wish to become more involved in our studio community. Students enrolled in the Professional Program are given the opportunity to design an individual program, completed on a flexible timetable, according to their personal schedule and financial needs.
